Last week I hosted a fun event at a local non-alcoholic beverage store called Dray Drinks in Boston’s South End. The store itself is gorgeous with beautiful bottles and a bright mural. They have a wide variety of non-alcoholic beverages. Beyond that what really drew me to the store was their selection of functional beverages – non-alcoholic drinks that contain herbs that have health benefits. I love that not only do these beverages not cause any harm to us, like alcohol, but they are actually adding health to us.
At the event, I discussed and we tasted different functional beverages with kava, lemon balm, ginger, ashwagandha, and reishi. Everyone had a great time trying different drinks and learning how to add them into their daily routine.

Here’s my recipe for a gut-health-friendly mocktail!

Ingredients:
- 3-4 oz sparkling water
 - 1/2 oz grapefruit juice
 - 1/2 oz lime juice
 - 5-7 shakes of All The Bitters Orange Bitters (available at Dray Drinks!)
 - Ice
 - Lime or grapefruit wedge for garnish
 - Optional: 1/2 oz simple syrup

Instructions
- Add grapefruit juice, lime juice, and bitters to rocks glass and stir. If using simple syrup, add to a glass and stir.
 - Fill with ice and then top with sparkling water
 - Garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy!

Notes:
- The bitters support liver health and digestion
 - Grapefruit also helps with gallbladder health, helping with detox and digesting food!
 - You can use any type of bitters that you’d like
 - Feel free to add any garnishes, like mint or basil
